it was of reasonable size but the carpet was worn, splatter marks of something on the headboard (blood/coke, I don't know) and the room and its fitments were generally tired looking. We booked a superior room and upon entering it was not what I was expecting. Entering reception would be like entering an easyjet nightclub if there were such a thing orange and black decor, dimmed lighting and tecno music playing. The location of the hotel is excellent as it's just a short walk from the Opera Metro which itself is ideally situated for site seeing.

Having said that we really enjoyed our time in Madrid which is an excellent city. I have never felt the need to write a review before but someone is doing something right here and should be complemented on it.įor the last few years I've used this web site before booking a holiday and have always found it more that usfull but this time we really seem to have been unlucky. We had brunch most days and did'nt need to eat untill dinner. Unlike other Hotels breakfast is included in the price and they dont make you get up early in the morning either. They advised of places to go,booked restauraunts, and went out of their way to make our stay pleasureable. The Hotel is arty, boutique modern the rooms are fantastic, spotlessly clean, big beds, and great power showers. The desk staff were genuinely friendly, helpfull, and had a great sence of hummour. You can walk to all the main attractions easily, or take the Metro if you wish. Transfair from the airport by Metro was quick, clean, and cost one euro. The location could not be better, on a quite street two minutes walk from the Opera Metro. What a find! We have nothing but praise for the Mario. It is normal for us to spend some time researching hotels online befor we book, ( we are very fussy )and never stay at anything less than four star.Something kept bringing me back to this group of Hotels though. Ciara and I have just spent five days in Madrid, staying at the Room Mate Mario Hotel.
